2025 UTME: JAMB Promises Action After Thousands Reject Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched an urgent review of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) process following widespread complaints from candidates regarding discrepancies in their results.

In a statement issued on Monday, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, revealed that the board had received an unusually high volume of complaints after releasing the results last Friday.

Many candidates have raised concerns over the accuracy of their scores, with some rejecting their results and demanding a review.

In response, JAMB has expedited its usual annual system review, typically conducted months after the examination.

The review will focus on three critical phases: registration, examination, and the release of results. During the examination phase, JAMB ensured that every candidate had the opportunity to sit for the test.

JAMB is collaborating with experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, chief examiners from tertiary institutions, and specialists from the Educational Association and Research Network in Africa, to investigate the issues.

If any errors are discovered, JAMB has committed to implementing appropriate corrective measures.

The board’s swift action comes amid growing dissatisfaction from candidates and their families, particularly as more than 78 percent of candidates scored less than 200 points out of the 400 maximum obtainable.

The board has assured the public that it is committed to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and urged patience while the review continues.

“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the protection of lives, property, and community peace,” said the JAMB spokesperson in the statement. This proactive measure reflects JAMB’s dedication to addressing the concerns of candidates and ensuring the transparency of the UTME process.
