1. Formerly called Kano University of Technology
Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil was the previous name of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology.

During Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s tenure in 2022, the university was renamed with the agreement of the Kano State Executive Council.

The state council’s decision was based on recommendations by the university’s visitation panel.

This modification honors Aliko Dangote, a renowned Nigerian industrialist and philanthropist, for his contributions to education.

2. It offers 32 science courses
With studies in physics, chemistry, biology, and microbiology, Aliko Dangote University focuses a significant emphasis on the sciences. These programs not only provide students with theoretical information, but also encourage hands-on learning in laboratories that are well-equipped.

From agricultural economics to computer science, biochemistry to urban and regional planning, the institution offers students a wide range of subjects to choose from.

3. It was established during Kwankwaso’s tenure

ADUSTECH’s adventure began in 2001, when it first welcomed students. The institution was founded under the visionary leadership of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003, and has since blossomed into a hub of intellectual endeavor and innovation.

The university’s library, which opened in 2001, is critical to the university’s teaching, learning, and research efforts. It has a wide range of sections, including Circulation, Reference, Serial, and an E-Library section, all of which are geared to creating a welcoming learning environment.

4. Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai is the Vice-chancellor of the university
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, an Agricultural Economist, was presented with his Letter of Appointment at an excellent event on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) on the Campus.

Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai utilized the opportunity after receiving the letter to congratulate the Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for having the University christened after him.

5. It promised to use eNaira for tuition payments
Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University, promised the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, that eNaira will be used for tuition payments.

He also stated that the proposal will be implemented after talking with the state administration.

6. It is ranked as the 123rd Best Universities in Nigeria
The Aliko Dangote University is placed 123rd among Nigeria’s Best Universities. With the goal of becoming an International Centre of Excellence, ADUSTECH provides community-based education to help produce graduates who meet the specified learning and character requirements.

7. It belongs to the Association of Commonwealth Universities
Aliko Dangote University is a global actor in academia, not just a local one. The university is a proud member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, a network of over 50 higher education institutions.
