It is impossible to overstate the value of being able to speak fluent English. Because English is the country’s lingua franca, not being able to speak it casts a negative light on the individual.

So, no matter your position in society, you should never overlook English language corrections and have an open mind because even graduates make severe grammatical errors without being aware of this fact. When it comes to the English language, no one is immune to making mistakes. As a result, you should never ignore corrections or pretend you don’t hear them.

Some of the erroneous phrases we use and the proper ones will be examined in this article. Sit back, relax, and take it all in.

1. Don’t say “I am looking for a job” this is very wrong and can send a wrong signal to your potential employer. The phrase “I’m looking for work” is acceptable. Using proper grammar and punctuation.

2. Don’t say “I saw your missed calls”, this is wrong and grossly informal. “I missed your calls,” is an acceptable response.

3. Don’t say “I want to go to the toilet” this is common but it’s very wrong. “I’d want to use the restroom,” on the other hand, is more appropriate.

Four, don’t mention, “My phone’s battery is low.” Saying “My battery is empty” or “My phone is dead” is more precise and professional.

5. Don’t say “I am the last born of my family” this is common but highly ungrammatical. “I am the last of my family’s children,” is a valid statement to make.

6. Don’t say “Give me my change” this is also another common error, it’s more accurate to say “Please can I have my balance”.
