As women age, especially after the age of 35, fertility begins to decline significantly. By the time she reaches 40, her chances of conceiving naturally each month are reduced to about 5%.

That said, there are rare cases where women have conceived naturally in their early 50s, though it is uncommon. The oldest recorded natural pregnancy occurred in a woman around 59 years old, but this is extremely rare and not typical.

Most women go through menopause—the end of menstruation and natural fertility—between the ages of 45 and 55. Once menopause occurs, pregnancy naturally becomes impossible because the ovaries no longer release eggs.

Modern medicine, however, has made it possible for women past natural childbearing age to become pregnant through assisted reproductive technologies like IVF, especially with donor eggs.

But for a truly natural conception, once menopause is complete, the chances drop to zero. So, while late 40s is possible, it becomes more difficult and less likely with every passing year.
