The ADC governorship candidate, Hon. Leke Abejide, disclosed this while addressing the teeming supporters of the party during his visit to the eastern senatorial district in the state on Thursday.
Abejide, who was represented by his running mate, Dr Omede Idris, bemoaned the plight of the people over perennial shortage of water supply, particularly the inhabitants in the entire Kogi East senatorial district of the state who have been suffering from acute water shortage for centuries because of the natural topography of the areas.
He assured the party supporters of their resolve to end the perennial water shortage that has bedevilled Kogi East for centuries when voted in to power, adding that the challenge has become an embarrassment to all, as such, a permanent solution has to be found.
According to him, the party has mapped out the strategy to review the project of water supply to the entire Kogi East district through the abandoned Ejule water supply and reticulation project in Ofu local government of the state.
“Already our team and party have the road map to revamp the project and we are going to invite all the experts to join us to bring this project back to life in both long and short term.
“We are innovators and multiplicators in all human ramifications, these qualities you would begin to see, once we take over leadership in the state,” he said.
Dr. Omede, a former National President of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), told the teeming party supporters that he has resolved, with Hon. Leke Abejide, the ADC governorship candidate, to make the welfare of the people of the state the centre of their administration.
“The administration of African Democratic Congress will combine both infrastructural projects and human capital development to raise standard of living of the people in the state through a well thought out process and project management, which the party has ratified,” he said.
He noted that the state has gone through all manner of challenges, especially in the area of payment of percentage salaries to the public workers, particularly in the local government areas in the state.
He said, “We intend making the councils responsible to provide alternative development of human and capital development within a short time in office, where the local government workers will have sense of belonging in the society.
“Politics and democracy should be all people centred programmes to make more meaningful; and in our times, we shall show commitment and support to every single community based development projects in every parts of the state.”…..CONTINUE READING
