It is unsafe to use an umbrella in an area that may experience lightning strikes because metal objects, such those found in an umbrella, act as a conductor for a strike.

Avoid any circumstances that could put you in contact with water or water pipes.

Although it may seem like an urban legend, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that it is best for everyone to postpone using any pipes during a storm until it has gone. Even if everyday things like cleaning, doing the dishes, and tidying up could put you in danger.

You can become momentarily paralyzed or mute if electricity from a lightning strike enters your home through your plumbing or home’s improperly grounded walls, pipes, or water supply.

Don’t use any technology of any type. Your undivided attention should be on this.

It is recommended that you avoid using any plugged-in electrical appliances while a storm is in progress. This applies to your toaster oven, stand blender, and blender. The same holds true for your computer, television, and landline phone.Avoid talking on a landline in the rain if at all possible.

Although there is no proof that using a cellphone during a thunderstorm is dangerous, I would still advise against it out of an abundance of caution. Because the phone is attached to an outdoor wire, using a landline during a thunderstorm never offers its customers any protection from the weather
