About 3,000 members and supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Arochukwu local government area of Abia State, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The decampees include the executive committee members of the party in Arochukwu LGA, who were led into the fold of the Abia APC by the APGA State House of Assembly flagbearer during the concluded 2023 election for Arochukwu constituency seat, Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna.
Speaking at a well-attended event which took place at the Arochukwu local government headquarters at the weekend, Mr Ogbonna said he and his supporters, numbering three thousand across all the local electoral wards in Arochukwu, joined the APC to make contributions to the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration in the country.
He added that leaving APGA for the ruling progressive party in the country was the wise decision he and his teeming supporters made in their political careers.
The Abia chieftain assured the leadership of the state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress that he would assist in bringing the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of Abia State, southeast and Nigerians at large.
Ogbonna further assured that he will work with every member to move the party forward.
Welcoming the decampees into the party, the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Chief Offor Okorie, assured them of a level playing ground in the running of the party affairs and decision-making process.
