The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Monday, February 12, requested that the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, communicate to the president, the dire economic challenges causing immense suffering, including hunger and starvation, among the masses.

The monarch expressed his desire for the First Lady to personally convey this message from the palace to the president, her husband.

“Even though we have multiple channels for informing the government about our needs and requests, your method and means are the most reliable way to inform the president about the real state of affairs in the nation,” he stated.

According to The Nation, the Emir also discussed the issues that are upsetting CBN and FAAN’s intended move to Lagos.

“The situation has gotten worse and requires immediate attention, even though the hunger and starvation in the country did not begin with this government,” he said.

“Insecurity is yet another major issue we are dealing with. I am aware that your government inherited it, but the threats need to be addressed with more serious action.

“Our folks are sending us a number of messages. The much-discussed move of CBN and FAAN to Lagos is one of these messages. In my opinion, the government ought to be forthright about this issue and communicate with Nigerians in a language or languages that they can comprehend.

“Please provide more information on this topic. As for me, I’m unable to discern the government’s true goals. We ought to be made to comprehend the rationale behind the CBN and FAAN offices’ recent relocation to Lagos.”

He expressed his admiration for the First Lady’s attention to women’s and children’s welfare.

He encouraged her to put her Renewed Hope Initiative Pet Programme into action, saying that when it is finished, it will release the underprivileged from a variety of issues.

The Kano emir expressed concerns regarding female education and requested that the First Lady take a close look at the problems pertaining to women and children, particularly those involving girls, and make sure that they are protected.

He prayed that such deeds should be done to everyone in distress and encouraged her to keep assisting the poor and praising her for standing by the people of Plateau during the fighting there.
