Nigerian actress Eniola Badmus has come under heavy criticism following her appearance at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), which took place on May 10.
The movie star was among the top celebrities who attended the prestigious event. A video clip that recently surfaced online shows a brief exchange between Badmus and a cameraman during her time on the red carpet.
In the trending footage, she is politely asked to move aside as she was standing in the way of other guests. Despite the request, Eniola refused to shift and responded in a noticeable American accent, saying there was nothing she could do about the red carpet situation.
The video sparked backlash, with one Instagram user commenting under City Edge TV’s post, accusing the actress of imitating an accent while lacking basic courtesy.
The user wrote:
“You went to a country, borrowed their ‘accent’ but you could not borrow important things like orderliness and respect for public spaces.”
Eniola came across the remark and fired back with a one-word reply:
“Werey.”
