The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has said that the Ajaokuta Kaduna Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project was 72 per cent completed as at the first quarter (Q1) of this year.
He spoke in Abuja during the Roundtable Event on: “Catalyzing Renewable Energy Growth Through Research, Development, and Innovation in Nassarawa State Electricity Market.
The Nassarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, disclosed that Industrial clusters in the state are ready to take gas from the Ajaokuta Kaduna Kano (AKK) gas pipeline to reduce cost of production.
He said he has made adequate preparation to connect to the AKK gas pipeline to power the industrial clusters.
He is taking a cue from the industrial base in Sagamu, Ogun State, which is powered by gas from West Africa Gas Pipeline.
He added: “And I said I am waiting for the AKK line to be ready. So Nassarawa State has now developed its own region just for gas supply so that we can also generate power in that area.”
He recalled that aside from the companies that recently set up lithium processing firms in the state, all the raw lithium from Nassarawa were processed in Sagamu because of regular power supply.
He admitted that the state is fast transforming from home of solid minerals to home of lithium.
