The protesters also demanded that the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, step down immediately.Speaking on behalf of the protesters, who donned black and white T-shirts, Salau Olusola, stated that poor election outcomes might force members to question the effectiveness of the leadership.
The six reasons listed by the aggrieved persons include: poor election performance, internal conflict, communication issues, ethical concerns, strategic failures and loss of confidence.
Olusola said the seeming lack of cohesion within the party prompted the calls for a new leadership. He suggested that party faithful could demand change if they feel the leadership had failed in strategic decision-making or adapting to political dynamics.
The spokesperson lamented alleged general loss of confidence in the leadership’s ability to navigate challenges and represent the party’s interests.
“These are the reasons we are calling on the national leaders of our party from top to bottom to humbly resign,” he added. National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, declined comments.
