BREAKING: SDP Deputy National Chairmen Elected

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has appointed Senator Ugochukwu Uba as Deputy National Chairman (South), Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Mr. Hussani Ado Bello, as National Financial Secretary.
This was announced on Thursday in a statement by the National Secretary of the Party, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba.
The statement described Senator Uba as a scholar, public servant, and politician from Anambra State.
He was a former Director-General and later Honourable Commissioner in Anambra State under the SDP administration of the late Governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife in 1992.
He served the nation as a member of the Centre for Democratic Studies (CDS), with the late Professor Omo Omoruyi as Director-General, under the IBB regime.
He was elected as the Senator representing Anambra South, from 2003 to 2007, during which time he served as Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport, and was credited with the passage of the Cabotage Act.
On Dr Abubakar, the statement said “He is an acclaimed statistician and a holder of Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy, and Phd. in Political Economy and Development.”
He served the SDP as pioneer National Secretary in 2010 to 2015 and was the Governorship Candidate of the SDP in 2011 in Gombe State.
He also served as Chairman, Convention Planning Committee of the SDP in 2011.
“Accordingly the appointees have become members of the National Working Committee of our great party, the Social Democratic Party, with immediate effect, having been duly and validly appointed,” the statement added.
