BREAKING: The Abia State Ministry Of Education Announces Important Exam Dates And Encourages Early Registration

The Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through its Examination Development Centre (EDC), has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Mandatory Central Promotion Examination (MCPE) for Senior Secondary School students.
According to a release signed by the Director of Examinations, Mrs. Kanu Ucheoma Peace, the MCPE is set to hold from July 14 to July 25, 2025, and is compulsory for all students in Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Parents and guardians have been advised to register their children or wards either online via www.abiaunifyportal.com.ng or in person at the EDC office in Umuahia before the examination date.
Mrs. Kanu stressed the importance of the examination, warning that students who fail to participate will be ineligible to sit for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) exams.
In a related development, the Ministry announced that admission forms for the 2025/2026 academic session into the state’s Senior Science Schools located in Owerrinta, Alayi, and Arian are now available. These forms can be obtained at the respective schools, the EDC office, and all Zonal and Area Inspectorate Offices under the Ministry. The entrance examination for these science schools is scheduled for July 10, 2025.
Additionally, the Director informed that registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will close on May 23, 2025, while the exam is set to commence on June 17, 2025.
The Ministry called on stakeholders in the education sector to ensure full compliance and timely registration to avoid disqualification.
