The first unhealthy food to be discussed is processed foods.
A processed food is any food that has been changed from its natural state. Foods that have been processed can contain unhealthy additives, such as saturated fat, refined sugars and salt, which can add up over time to be detrimental to our health. Additionally, processed foods often lack important vitamins and minerals that are essential for overall health. Eating too many processed foods can increase the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and other serious health issues.
According to mayoclinic, Another type of food that can be dangerous to our health are those that are high in saturated fats. Saturated fats come from animal sources such as eggs, dairy and red meat and are known to raise bad cholesterol levels, which can lead to an increased risk of stroke and heart attack. Eating too many saturated fats can also increase the risk of developing cancer.
Additionally, food that are high in refined sugars can be harmful to our health. Refined sugars are added to many processed foods, such as candy, soft drinks and baked goods. Eating too much of these foods can lead to weight gain, an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and metabolic disorders. Refined sugars can also contribute to an increase in inflammation, which can cause further health complications.
Finally, foods high in trans fats can be harmful to our health as well. Trans fats are formed when liquid vegetable oils are processed and hardened to become solid fats. Trans fats can be found in some processed baked goods, such as cakes, crackers, and cookies, and can cause an increased risk of stroke and hear attack. Eating too much of these trans fats can also lead to diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity.
