If the Super Eagles want to do well in upcoming games, they should drop these two players.

Yesterday’s Super Eagles victory over Sao Tome and Principe marked the conclusion of Nigeria’s AFCON qualifying campaign. However, a few players needed to be benched by the coach before the forthcoming world cup qualifiers and AFCON tournament since they did not perform well. 1 – Taiwo Awoniyi: The Nottingham Forest attacker is still having trouble getting started with the Nigerian Super Eagles. He has not been very spectacular for Nigeria’s senior national team, and that was evident once more in the game against Sao Tome and Principe.
According to the most recent FIFA rankings, he faced off against the defense of the lowest-ranked African team, but he was still nervous and hesitant in front of goal. He lacks the talent to play as a lone striker, but he also wouldn’t work well in an attack alongside Victor Osimhen.
When playing against a stronger opponent, the Super Eagles of Nigeria would have struggled to score goals because Awoniyi had trouble blending in with the other attackers. He is not the kind of striker the Super Eagles should use in world cup qualifiers against sterner opposition like South Africa.
2. Frank Onyeka: If the side had been playing a team with more seasoned players, the loopholes the Brentford player in the middle of the field created would have had a greater impact. If he is deployed in more competitive matches, a more experienced side will undoubtedly profit from his wastefulness with possession.
Onyeka’s lack of imagination and low level of confidence made it difficult for him to work well in the midfield alongside Wilfred Ndidi. He shouldn’t be Nigeria’s starting quarterback in upcoming games.
The young player was nowhere to be found for a while during yesterday’s game as Sao Tome and Principe players overwhelmed him.
