Democracy, at its core, thrives on an ongoing dialogue between leaders and the communities they represent. The Ebira Community, through their ballots, actively engaged in this dialogue, delivering a clear message. Their resounding vote in favour of Natasha Akpoti is not merely an endorsement of her leadership prowess; it also mirrors their dreams and aspirations for Kogi Central and, by extension, our entire state.

To the Ebira people, Natasha embodies the very essence of ideas and values that promise progress in vital areas such as social infrastructure, industrial growth, the discovery of economic potential within the Ebira cultural heritage, and limitless opportunities for technological advancement.

Disregarding or undermining this voice and rationale would constitute a strategic blunder and an affront to the collective will of Kogi Central’s populace.

Before the 2023 general election, Natasha often felt like a stranger in her own Senatorial district. Her supporters faced physical assaults, unjust arrests, and even saw major roads in Ihima and Eika Communities torn apart, causing further significant damage to existing infrastructure decay. These actions were designed to instill fear, disrupt the movement of critical electoral materials, and disenfranchise certain voters, transcending beyond mere political circles. The agony, suffering, and emotional distress associated with the election left deep scars, and the Tribunal’s verdict is seen as an opportunity to begin the healing process.

Rumors suggest efforts were made to lay the groundwork for dialogue and secure Barr. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan’s support to align with the current agenda before the Tribunal’s verdict. The ongoing efforts, before the Tribunal’s decision, appeared to create a fertile ground to acknowledge mistakes and apologize for wrongdoings.

The current plan by the APC to appeal the judgment suggests that the peace talks initiated were potentially politically motivated and a strategic deceit to further plunge Natasha’s strength. Nevertheless, beyond the confines of the courtroom, there exists a more expansive court—the court of public opinion and societal trust. The consequences of losing the trust of the people, even if legal battles are won, would be immeasurable.

This is a call to action for prominent figures in Ebira land to be wary of the impending dangers and repercussions associated with appealing the ruling by the ruling party. Such a move could send a troubling message, potentially leading Natasha’s supporters to make political choices that may not align with the current agenda. This could result in dire consequences and heightened apprehension, jeopardizing the agenda’s future.

If Ododo Usman and his campaign team are ready for this election, I expect them to speak to the soul and conscience of Ohere and his political father, His Excellency Adoza Bello to better let go of the senate so they can talk NATASHA and the entire Anebira into supporting the Ebira agenda. Failure to heed this call, we Anebira in diaspora shall throw our support to whatever she decides concerning the guber race come November….CONTINUE READING
