Otti promised to prioritize road improvements.

Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, claims that his administration is eager to make progress and make up ground that has been lost.

At the opening of the 67-kilometer Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Ohafia Road rehabilitation on Wednesday, Otti stated that his government could not afford to squander time, which led to the selection of three contractors to work on the project concurrently: Craneburg, Ferotex, and CCECC.

The governor expressed his desire for the project to be finished as soon as possible and for it to be delivered to specifications in a record amount of time. He also mentioned his desire for the state’s residents to be able to travel on motorized highways and conveniently evacuate their farm produce.

“If your schools are seriously dilapidated, how can you be first? If your people can’t even go to sleep with their eyes closed, how can you be the best? Given the amount of trash in the area, how can you possibly come in first?

“You breathe in bad air whenever you breathe.” Therefore, we made the deliberate decision to address these issues as soon as we assumed office,” he continued.

The project is separated into three sections, according to state Commissioner for Works Mr. Otumchere Oti’s remarks: Umuahia to Uzuakoli, Uzuakoli to Akara Junction, Isuikwuato and Akara Junction, and Isuikwuato to Ohafia by Craneburg, Ferotex, and CCECC, in that order.

In terms of road infrastructure, the commissioner thanked the governor for his dedication to making sure that every nook and cranny of the state receives government attention. He stated that the first phase, which runs from Umuahia to Uzuakoli, will be converted into a two-way lane and that the contract also covers the construction of culverts and drainage systems, the repair of failed sections, and the installation of street lights.

“We want our people to travel on motorable roads,” he declared. We want business owners operating in every corner of Abia to be allowed to remove their goods and bring them to the townships for sale.

The governor stated that the goal of starting the road project is to open up the communities so that the people can start enjoying a good life and urged wealthy residents of the state who live outside the state to start visiting their communities more frequently as a way to boost the local economy.
