However, it has sparked endless debate about what Jesus really meant and how Christians should apply it in daily life. Many people interpret this verse as a command never to criticize or correct others, believing that all forms of judgment are wrong.
This has led some Christians to feel hesitant about pointing out sin or addressing harmful behavior, for fear of being seen as judgmental or hypocritical.
Others, however, argue that the verse is not forbidding all judgment, but rather warning against harsh, self-righteous, or unfair judgment especially when we ourselves are guilty of similar faults.
The confusion deepens because, in the same chapter, Jesus tells us to “beware of false prophets” (Matthew 7:15), which clearly requires some level of discernment and evaluation a form of judgment.
This has left many Christians wrestling with how to balance grace, truth, and accountability without crossing into condemnation.
