Despite the fact that it is one of the most neglected organs in the body, the liver is actually one of the most crucial. The liver is the second largest organ in the human body and is located on the right side of the body, immediately below the rib cage.

It is responsible for the production of stomach bile and provides energy to the body. As the liver is one of the most important organs in the body, it is extremely important to keep a close look out for any potential issues that may cause damage in the long run.

The American Liver Foundation believes that there are 5.5 million people in the United States who are currently suffering from liver disease, and that each year approximately 30,000 people in the United States perish away from liver cancer. There are probably thousands of more persons who are completely unaware of the fact that they have liver problems.

The following is a list of key warning indicators that should be kept in mind, all of which may indicate a problem with the liver:

1. Jaundice

One of the most noticeable symptoms of liver failure is jaundice, a condition in which the skin, the whites of the eyes, and the mucous membranes become yellow. Jaundice is caused by a disorder called jaundice. This yellowish hue is caused by high levels of bilirubin, which is a yellow-orange pigment found in bile. This pigment is produced when the liver is unable to properly digest red blood cells as they degrade. Itchiness of the skin could be a symptom of the same underlying condition.

2. Swollen Abdomen

One of the earliest signs of liver damage is the development of ascites, which is also referred to as a markedly bloated belly. This enlargement, which is often an indication of the liver disease cirrhosis, is caused by the buildup of excessive amounts of fluid in your abdominal cavity. If ascites, which frequently appears to look like a small pregnancy bump, is present, a medical professional should always be consulted.

3. Spider naevi

Spider naevi are tiny, crimson, pin-point clusters of blood veins on the skin that radiate outward in the shape of a spiderweb. As their name implies, these clusters of blood veins are very small. When your body has a high level of estrogen, as it does when chronic liver disease is present, you will commonly experience these. Because these symptoms can also appear in otherwise healthy adult women, it is important to keep in mind that they are not necessarily an indication of a damaged liver.

4. Feeling queasy or having your appetite change

A sudden feeling of hunger is a common sign of liver disorders and can be an indicator of more serious forms of liver disease. In addition, if the liver is damaged or failing, nausea may be an indicator of this condition because it occurs when the organ is unable to filter waste and expel it from the body.

5. Ongoing tiredness or fatigue

Exhaustion, tiredness, and fatigue are some of the most common indications and symptoms of a wide variety of diseases and conditions, including liver disease. Studies suggest that changes in brain chemistry brought on by decreased liver function could be the major cause of the chronic weariness that is associated with the liver.

6. Changes in Bowel Movements

Symptoms of liver dysfunction may include irritable bowel syndrome, shifts in the color or consistency of feces, or sudden constipation of any kind.
