1. Tilapia – This widely consumed fish may be low in mercury, but it’s also high in unhealthy omega-6 fats, which can cause inflammation in the body when consumed in excess. Farmed tilapia often come from overcrowded environments and may be fed a poor-quality diet.
2. Farmed Salmon – Unlike wild-caught salmon, farmed salmon are raised in tight, polluted conditions and are often treated with antibiotics and exposed to synthetic colorants. They may also contain higher levels of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), which are harmful toxins.
