When preparing a body for burial, there are certain things that must be removed or taken care of to ensure the process is proper, safe, and respectful. This is usually done by trained professionals in mortuary services.

Next, personal belongings should be taken out. Items like jewellery watches, and dentures are often removed and returned to the family. Clothing that is not part of the burial outfit may also be taken off.

Any medical tubes or fluids must be handled carefully. This includes drainage tubes, oxygen tubes, or other medical equipment. The body may also be washed and cleaned to remove blood or other bodily fluids.

In some cases, embalming fluids or medications are also managed. If the body is to be embalmed, certain procedures require removing fluids or treating the body to prevent decomposition before burial.

Sometimes prosthetics, such as false limbs or certain implants, may also be removed, depending on cultural or religious practices. Families should always communicate their preferences to the mortuary staff.

Finally, any items that could interfere with burial or cause health risks are removed. This ensures the burial is safe for everyone handling the body and respects hygiene standards.

Removing these items is a standard practice and is done with respect for the deceased. It helps in maintaining safety, hygiene, and dignity during burial. Families are often advised to discuss the details with the funeral home to ensure everything is handled according to their wishes.

This careful preparation allows the body to be buried safely and respectfully, following both medical and cultural requirements.
