Lagos Government Warns Of Attack On Enforcement Officers

The Lagos State Government has issued a firm warning to residents, urging them to refrain from assaulting officers of its enforcement agencies, stressing that violators will face strict penalties.

The government said the directive was prompted by recent reports of physical attacks on state officials, incidents it described as a threat to law and order across the state.

Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business Districts, CBD, Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, condemned the assaults, describing them as serious infractions capable of disturbing public peace and undermining the laws of Lagos State.

She emphasized that security and enforcement personnel would henceforth be more vigilant to ensure full compliance with the directive and preserve calm across the metropolis.

Lawal disclosed that at least three CBD officers had been attacked while carrying out their official duties, a development she said highlighted the need for public cooperation with government agencies.

Speaking during a ministerial press briefing at the State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday, she noted that officers receive regular training to manage public interactions professionally and urged residents to engage peacefully with enforcement officials.

“We will not tolerate any act of violence against our officers,” Lawal said.

”Anyone found guilty of assaulting law enforcement personnel will be brought to justice.

“As much as we train our officers regularly on how to relate professionally with members of the public, we frown at any action of violence.

“We urge all stakeholders to protect government assets in their environment and to obey all traffic rules. These facilities belong to all of us and must not be left at the mercy of vandals.”
