Simple Ways to Help Your Body Manage Excess Sugar Naturally

The most immediate effect sugar has on your body is through its impact on your blood sugar. When you eat things like simple carbohydrates in the form of bread, cookies, crackers, chips, juice, sweets, or anything containing added sugar, it is absorbed into the bloodstream quickly, causing a spike in the sugar content of your blood.

When this happens, your body experiences a sudden peak in energy and your pancreas kicks into gear and releases the hormone insulin to take the sugar from your blood into the cells of the body.

If you’re looking to flush excess sugar from your body, there are many natural strategies you can implement without resorting to drugs. Such strategies are centered around diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices.

First and foremost, reducing your sugar intake is key. This refers not only to the obvious sweets like candies and sodas, but especially hidden sugars in processed foods and drinks. Reading labels and opting for whole, unprocessed foods will drastically lower your sugar intake.

Ensure you are eating your micronutrients: Counteract too much sugar by supercharging your next meal for your liver’s benefit; namely with dark, leafy green vegetables that are high in a suite of micronutrients.

“Try to eat foods to help assist the liver in natural detoxification, which is much healthier than doing something compensatory like sweat out the donuts you just ate… that isn’t helpful, and may be harmful, in the long run,” Sassos adds.

Manage your carbs

You body converts carbs into sugar, then insulin helps your body to use and store sugar for energy. You can help your body control your blood sugar by monitoring carb intake and planning meals. A low-carb diet helps prevent sugar spikes – and can have long-term benefits.

Drinking a lot of water. If your daily water intake level is normal, then your blood sugar remains in control. Water helps kidneys to flush out toxins and insulin from the body.

When you do not drink enough water, your kidneys find it hard to remove insulin from the blood and the blood sugar level remains in the same state.

Over time, high blood sugar levels also damage kidneys and increase the risk of kidney stone and kidney failure. So, for diabetes patients drinking 2-3 litres of water is essential to manage your blood sugar level.

Plan Your Meals

Planning is key. Make a meal plan that includes foods to detox your body. Think leafy greens, lean proteins, and whole grains.

Eat more fiber

Fiber slows your body’s digestion of carbohydrates and sugar absorption. That means it promotes more gradual increases in blood sugar levels. All kinds of fiber are good for the body, but soluble fiber is best for improving blood sugar control.

High fiber diets also help manage type 1 diabetes by helping the body regulate blood sugar. High fiber foods include fruit, vegetables, beans, and whole grains.

Stay Hydrated

Water is your best friend during a sugar detox. It helps flush out toxins and keeps you hydrated, reducing cravings.

Finally, a liver-detoxifying diet which includes foods like garlic, beetroot, green tea, and leafy green vegetables may also help remove excess sugars from the body.

Always remember that making these lifestyle changes must be performed in a balanced manner. Drastic, immediate changes can shock the system – slow, steady shifts towards healthier habits are advised.

It’s vital to consult a physician or a registered dietitian in case you need specific dietary guidelines related to any diagnosed conditions such as diabetes.

These lifestyle modifications may require time and patience, but their rewards for long-term health are significant. Additionally, they not only aid in regulating sugar levels, but also contribute to overall wellness, making them beneficial to incorporate regardless.
