High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a condition where the force of blood against artery walls is too high. While medication and lifestyle changes can help control it, diet plays a major role. Some foods can make hypertension worse if eaten regularly.

First, salty foods are the biggest danger. Excess salt causes the body to retain water, which raises blood pressure. Common sources include processed meats, canned soups, chips, instant noodles, and fast foods. Reducing salt intake and avoiding adding too much to meals can help keep blood pressure stable.

Secondly, fried and fatty foods also worsen hypertension. These foods contain unhealthy fats that clog arteries and make the heart work harder. Regular consumption of fried chicken, fries, and pastries can lead to weight gain and increased cholesterol levels, both of which raise blood pressure.

Sugary foods and drinks are another risk. Soft drinks, sweets, and cakes can cause weight gain and insulin resistance, which affect blood vessel health. Over time, too much sugar can lead to diabetes and high blood pressure.

Processed and red meats such as sausages, bacon, and beef are high in sodium and saturated fats. Eating them too often increases the risk of heart disease and worsens hypertension. Lean meats or plant-based proteins are healthier options.

Lastly, alcohol and caffeinated drinks can raise blood pressure temporarily. When consumed in excess, they can damage blood vessels and make hypertension harder to manage.

In summary, people with high blood pressure should limit salt, sugar, fried foods, processed meats, and alcohol. Instead, they should eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Healthy eating combined with regular exercise and stress control can greatly help manage hypertension.
