One common side effect is lactose intolerance, which affects a large number of adults globally. People with this condition lack enough lactase enzyme to digest lactose, the sugar in milk. As a result, they may experience bloating, gas, cramps, or diarrhea after drinking milk.

In some cases, milk may contribute to inflammation, especially for those with dairy sensitivity. There are also ongoing debates about milk’s role in certain health conditions like prostate cancer or bone health.

In moderation, milk can be part of a healthy diet. But paying attention to how your body reacts and considering alternatives like lactose-free or plant-based milk might be wise for those with sensitivities.
