There is only one country in the world that proudly features a Bible on its national flag the Dominican Republic. This small but vibrant nation, located on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean, is unique in the way it openly displays its deep religious heritage on its most important national symbol.
The flag’s design is rich with meaning: it consists of a centered white cross that divides the flag into four rectangles two blue and two red.
At the heart of this cross sits the country’s coat of arms, and within that coat of arms is an open Bible.
What makes this even more remarkable is that the Bible is depicted as being open to John 8:32, which reads, “Y la verdad os hará libres” (in English: “And the truth shall make you free”). This reflects the Dominican people’s strong connection to faith, freedom, and truth.
The inclusion of the Bible on the flag is not just decorative; it is a bold declaration of the values that the nation holds dear.
In a world where most flags focus on colors, shapes, and historical symbols, the Dominican Republic’s flag stands out as a unique testimony to its Christian roots and its people’s enduring faith.
