Posted by The Health Care Aide (HCA) is responsible for meeting the individual requirements of patients or residents by providing basic nursing care, assisting with ADLs, and carrying out other duties as assigned.
In addition to carrying out their responsibilities to keep the facility looking nice, the HCA ensures that patients and residents are secure, comfortable, private, dignified, and able to live independently. Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, Values, rules, and procedures, as well as defined standards, have to be followed by the HCA when providing care. There are provisions in the USW Collective Agreement that apply to this job.

Criteria for Eligibility:Criteria for Eligibility: Currently listed as an active health care assistant in Alberta. Presently enrolled students in a recognized nursing program in Alberta who have fulfilled the following criteria:
1) prior experience in a medicine or continuing care unit; 2) completion of an associate’s degree program in nursing or psychiatric nursing; or 3) familiarity with medication assistance will be taken into account. We may take into account candidates whose status is “In Progress” on the Directory.
All applicants must show evidence of current directory enrollment.
Able to physically aid with all parts of transporting and caring for patients or residents, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Ability to comprehend both spoken and written English instructions is required.
