Governor Mutfwang Calls for U.S.-Nigerian Cooperation to Combat Insecurity

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, governor of Plateau State, has stated that addressing the present security difficulties in some parts of Nigeria might be achieved by strengthening the strategic relationship between the US and Nigeria.

At a discussion on Nigerian security and peace held at the US Institute of Peace, Mutfwang—who was part of a group of Nigerian governors visiting the US—spoke.
Mutfwang praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pragmatic leadership style, according to a statement from Gyang Bere, the director of public affairs and press for the governor.

According to him, Tinubu has demonstrated political determination by dealing with the security issues that his government took over.
The governor urged the people of Nigeria and the government to fulfill their constitutional duty with renewed vigor.

Taking place under the overarching theme of “Drivers of Insecurity and Opportunities for Stabilization,” the symposium sought to delve further into the security context, encompassing its socio-economic aspects, and to discover potential options to tackle instability in the near future.

The “stabilisation support through various interventions, especially those focused on strengthening the capacity of peace actors through the Nigerian Network of Facilitators” was lauded by Mutfwang as an accomplishment of the US government and the US Institute of Peace in particular.

That “the lessons learned would contribute to addressing decades of security challenges in Nigeria and Plateau State in particular” was his optimistic prediction, he said.
