The armed groups in Rivers State have been urged by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, to put down their weapons and let peace prevail.

The call was made by Chief Iwuanyanwu as he was responding to queries from journalists in Owerri. He added that members of the Rivers House of Assembly, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the faction loyal to Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, should resolve their differences peacefully.

The head of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo people’s movement made the point that a peaceful and prosperous Rivers State, Nigeria, and the entire Eastern region will benefit from this decision.

He emphasized that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is closely monitoring the issue and is deeply troubled by the latest development.

Since Chief Iwuanyanwu and his son are the current and previous governors of Rivers State, he asked why the three of them couldn’t get down and work out their issues so that the state could go forward.
